The Creative Collective

The archive has been initiated and is maintained by the Creative Collective, a group of designers at JLX Studio committed to observing, documenting and learning from the design intelligence embedded in everyday life.

Our Collaborator

Designers, artists, researchers and observers from across the Indian subcontinent have contributed objects, systems, and rituals drawn from their everyday encounters and memories. Each entry carries a personal lens and tells us why something was noticed, valued, or remembered. Together, these contributors form a growing community that keeps the archive alive and evolving.

He is an Indian author who writes in Kannada, with 16 books translated into Indian languages, English, and Spanish. For 21 years, he has run Chanda Pustaka, nurturing young Kannada writers. He is the first openly out and proud gay author in Kannada. A passionate hiker, he has trekked the Western Ghats, Mount Kilimanjaro, Kailash Mansarovar, and the Himalayas. He loves world cinema, the Mahabharata, Indian classical music.

Muthatha Ramanathan is a human geographer, writer and artist. Since 2023 she has been collaborating with the community of young practitioners in JLX studio to build an environment of reflection, critical enquiry and creative expression.

Selvaprakash Lakshmanan is an award-winning visual artist based in Bangalore and Chennai, India. A former visual journalist, his work has appeared in The New York Times, Forbes, and Der Spiegel. He has collaborated with clients including Microsoft, Mercedes-Benz, and Facebook, with exhibitions at the San Francisco Art Commission Gallery and Time and Space Gallery.

Ponnilavan Siva

Ponnilavan is an Architect and Designer by profession, also a motivated traveller and an epicure who enjoys music. He is heading an architectural studio @virutchamdesigns and is practising construction while encouraging architecture with minimal materials and low environmental impact.
His practice highlights sustainable architecture with minimalistic sensible design to create a distinct contemporary expression while keeping the roots of culture and traditions intact.

Ragini Siruguri

Ragini Siruguri is a visual communication designer. She is passionate about design culture and education, street photography, and music. She spends her time experimenting with the smell of colours, the taste of words, and thinking between the lines. Over the last couple of years, she has designed books for Tara Books, a Chennai-based independent publishing collective of artists, writers, and designers. These books include Hic!, Where has the Tiger gone? and Frida Folk.

Harshit Srivastava

A fashion and textile designer by profession and a sartorial storyteller by passion. A rooted stylist who loves creating fashion campaigns that have a soul of their own. A graduate of NIFT, Bengaluru and Swiss Textile College STF and an alumnus of CCBP, IIM Ahmedabad. Harshit believes in expressing his inner self through the language of fashion, design and arts. Passionate about performing arts, half his heart belongs to the world of theater and half in the movie halls. A travel enthusiast who writes poetry by the night and dances like no one is watching.

Allan

Allan is a professional mystery entertainer, who finds much satisfaction sharing his world of wonders and mystery with anyone open to it. Growing up as a curious kid fascinated by anything out of the ordinary & mysterious. He developed a genuine interest to learn the practice of magic, hypnosis, mentalism, energy healing and yogic sciences. His career allowed him to travel far and wide in India and out of the country, hence bringing him across multiple cultures and experiencing a wide range of EDA objects and customs.

Julie kagti

Julie kagti is a Textile Designer, Interior decorator and the founder of @curtaincalladventures, which offers an immersive travel experiece in India. Her early life in the tea plantations of Digboi,Assam and an innate understanding of the Northeast India allows her to curate not only authentic experiences, but also memorable and enriching travels.
