Kulhad

Kulhad, also known as Kulhars and Shikora, is a traditional mud cup used in India and Pakistan. These cups are made from the clay available in the region; once moulded, it is fired in a kiln. These cups don't have a handle and have the most basic shape making them very simple to make.
The Kulhad is unglazed and not painted; this differentiates it from Terracotta. Kulhads are not reused; they are crushed and made into powder and used for other purposes. This makes them very hygienic to use and a sustainable solution as it is recycled.
Kulhad is widely used for serving Tea; the hot Tea served in Kulhad gives it an earthy and nutty aroma rendering it even unresistible. It is also used to serve Yogurt, Kulfi, and other regional desserts.
Kulhad is an excellent alternative to Plastic and Paper single-use cups. The only drawback is its weight and price. Still, if made locally in all regions, it can easily replace the non-sustainable solutions currently used.
