Mudwall

Mudwalls, also known as Cob walls, are the most common architectural form used in rural India to build houses a few decades ago. The simplicity, cost-effectiveness and climate control it offers for hot climates made them the most preferred way to construct homes in villages.

The mud or clay is usually taken from the water bodies available near the habitat, and with the addition of a few additives available locally, it is good to start constructing. Mud walls are usually found in single-storied buildings, but with a bit of structural planning, they can be extended to a few stories.

Though this form is not widely used nowadays, many groups promoting traditional architecture are reviving it and using it in new age houses.
