Naatu Oodu / Potter Tiles

Naatu Oodu, or Potter's Tiles as the name suggests, are Handmade by potters with the clay available in the region. These terracotta tiles are found worldwide in many ancient civilizations due to the simple process involved in making them. These tiles are moulded into the shape using clay and then baked to make them hard.

These tiles are widely seen in older architectures of Southern India. They take up various colours and modifications in shapes as per the raw material available in the region and the Potters' skill in making it. Since the primary direction of architecture is very contemporary nowadays, these tiles are rarely used in a few places and only for their aesthetics.
